Facilities Management

Help for your business at each step of the journey.

Guidance for the facilities management sector

Change sector

As a facilities management company you may be providing waste management services for some or all of the following types of facilities:

Commercial Buildings: Offices, retail stores, hotels, restaurants, conference centres, banks, and entertainment venues.

Industrial Facilities: Factories, warehouses, manufacturing plants, power plants, refineries, and chemical plants.

Residential Buildings: Apartments, retirement facilities, and Student Halls.

Public and Institutional Buildings: Schools, universities, hospitals, government buildings, and libraries.

Specialty Facilities: Sports arenas, stadiums, museums, airports, and shopping centres.

The new regulations only apply to household-like waste produced by workplaces, that is waste that is usually found at home and routinely collected from the kerbside. Therefore the requirements do not include industrial waste such as scrap metal or hazardous wastes. These should always be disposed of responsibly.

Where you are responsible for the waste management services, it is your responsibility to ensure that the services provided are compliant with the Simpler Recycling requirements. Learn more about what you need to do to ensure you and those organisations you provide services for, are compliant with the new recycling regulations in this Recycling Guide!
